It will be very interesting to see how people vote regarding the murder of unborn children. It is quite a stretch to call the decision of the Federal Government to allow states to decide whether these murders continue "totalitarianism". I am no expert in the law; but I question whether the United States was a dystopia before the illegal decision in 1973. While all the fanatics are dusting off their pussy hats and rushing to destroy cities, it seems that everyone has forgotten the easy availability of contraception and of the "morning after" pill. To watch the loons on the evening news tearing out their hair and bawling at the horrible idea that they might not be able to have unprotected sex at every moment is to watch the fall of a civilization.

A simple solution to all this hysteria would be to make fathers of bastards responsible for their children's care and upbringing. In a generation, we might once again have a moral and responsible society.

One can't legislate morality. Beside whose morality are we to legislate anyway. I stated, hopefully clearly, that a decision to terminate a pregnancy is a private choice of the woman alone. I don't see it as murder because the fetuses are essentially living as a parasite before about 32 weeks, maybe longer as I couldn't find non-hospital deliveries. As soon as the child is born it becomes murder, not before. I look at most things philosophically, as ethical phenomenology. Morality is such a loaded word that coming to terms of specifics may not simply be available. But the reality is that the states will be on the hook for 18 years in some cases at least; like for orphans today. Peace, Charles

As I once told one of my bosses at the Kent County (MI) welfare office, "You certainly legislate IMmorality". Every bad decision made by a welfare recipient leads to more cash and every (traditionally) smart decision leads to punishment. LBJ's so-called Great Society, while allowing retirees to die with dignity, also created an income stream for loose women and horny men. Quite simply, all one has to do is fuck and move on. The government will do the rest. The decision to destroy a living soul is a serious one and those who repeatedly choose to do so should be spayed.
